Social well-being is a value that everyone, religious and non-religious, aspires to attain. From Islamic perspective, there are many ways to achieve this value. One of them is the Islamic motives and interests related to the formation of Family. This study of Islamic objectives of family formation with reference to Quran and Ḥadīth makes it clear that the goals of Islam regarding family formation as continuity of race, tranquility and contentment, protection of chastity, good training of children, elimination of hardship, sense of responsibility, health and fitness, the spirit of self-sacrifice, the pleasure of Allah and the ease of parenting in old age, are the best source of social well-being. Muslims should always keep these goals in mind while starting and living a family life and play their role in achieving the said objective.
