Abstract

Sīrah writing has been a proud hearted effort for the Muslim scholars throughout Islamic history. From different methods of Sīrah writing, ḥadīth based style has been the most reliable and authentic method. The present study investigates this method in the light of “Al-Wafā biahwāl al-Mustafā” penned by Īmām Ibn al-Jowzī. It finds that “al-Wafā” is a significant study on the subject. Along with encyclopedic information about different aspects of Sīrah, it gives comprehensive insights around legitimacy of different prophetic traditions.
