Umdat al-Qārī, a commentary on Saḥīḥh al-Bukhārī in Arabic (25Volumes) written by Imam Badr al-Dīn Mahmud Ibn Ahmad al-ʻAynī (762/1360-855/1453) is considered an Islamic Encyclopedia covering a variety of Islamic injunctions. Even though Imam Aini was a Mohadith but he is considered an exegete as well due to his mention of exegetical narrations in his book. Keeping in view, this research is conducted on his methodology concerning the exegetical narratives. This article provides a brief introduction to Imam Badr al-Dīn Mahmud ibn Ahmad al-ʻAynī and his present work. Moreover, light is shed on his methodology in the citation of exegetical narratives with an illustration of a few examples from his work. This paper concludes that the imam has employed a unique and vigilant method that provides his work a momentous status in the academic world.
