Abstract

Among the twenty-nine surahs beginning with disconnected letters (Al-urūf al-Muqaṭṭaa), seven begin with the disconnected letters āmīm. These surahs are commonly known in traditional Muslim sources as the awāmīm. There are similarities in these Surahs. The themes are similar to the preceding Meccan surahs. This is fact that these surahs together form an interconnected group. They reveal a clear sense of character and unity. The Hawāmim Surahs have a special distinction and division in which they have in common the value of a resemblance in every aspect. In Tafaseer Ulema have talked about these similarities but not in much detail. This article aims to reflect on these similarities.
