Al-Qamar publishes original Research Articles and Book Reviews in the fields of Islamic Studies, religious studies, humanities, social sciences, law, history, civilization, ethics, and contemporary Muslim society. The journal primarily welcomes scholarly work that contributes to the study of Islam, Muslim intellectual traditions, Islamic thought, religious knowledge, Muslim societies, and the historical, cultural, legal, ethical, and social dimensions of Muslim life.
The journal also considers interdisciplinary research in related areas of the humanities and social sciences, provided that the manuscript maintains a clear academic connection with Islamic Studies, religious studies, Muslim societies, Islamic civilization, or contemporary issues relevant to Muslim communities. Submissions should demonstrate originality, methodological clarity, scholarly argument, proper documentation, and relevance to the journal’s academic scope.
Al-Qamar currently accepts only Research Articles and Book Reviews. The journal does not accept other submission categories unless formally announced by the editorial office.
Research Articles are processed through a double-blind peer-review system. Book Reviews are evaluated by the editorial team for scholarly relevance, accuracy, originality of assessment, and academic quality, and may be sent to a subject expert for review where necessary. Book Reviews are not treated as original research articles.
All articles published in Al-Qamar are open-access articles distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original author(s), journal, and source are properly credited.
Readers, researchers, institutions, and libraries are not charged for access to published content.
To support editorial management, website maintenance, manuscript production, copyediting, formatting, DOI and metadata preparation, archiving, and publication services, the journal charges a publication fee after acceptance.

International Authors: USD 100
Submission Fee: None, unless separately announced
The publication fee does not influence editorial decisions, peer review, reviewer recommendations, or acceptance. Fee waivers or reductions may be considered on request where justified.
Submissions are managed through Open Journal Systems (OJS). Authors are required to submit manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system and must ensure that all author details, affiliations, abstracts, keywords, references, and supplementary information are complete and accurate at the time of submission.

Al-Qamar Islamic Research Institute is an independent academic publisher and research development platform based in Lahore, Pakistan. Established in 2014, the Institute works for the advancement of scholarly research, academic publishing, research training, and the promotion of quality academic content in Islamic Studies, humanities, social sciences, religious studies, history, law, ethics, and related fields.
Since its establishment, the Institute has developed and supported academic journals, scholarly books, research magazines, textbooks, monographs, edited volumes, and other research-based publications. Its publishing work is planned and supervised in consultation with senior academicians, researchers, editors, reviewers, and subject specialists to ensure academic quality, editorial responsibility, and scholarly relevance.
The Institute has published three academic journals and a wide range of academic books, textbooks, monographs, and research-oriented publications. It is supported by a professional team of 39 staff members and an extended academic network of more than 80 contributors, including scholars, reviewers, editors, and researchers from Pakistan and abroad.
Al-Qamar was launched as the Institute’s first academic journal with a commitment to peer review, editorial independence, ethical publishing, and quality research in Islamic Studies and related disciplines. The journal maintains a selective editorial process and a rigorous acceptance policy, with an acceptance rate of approximately 12 percent. It was later recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
Through its publishing and research activities, Al-Qamar Islamic Research Institute aims to contribute to the development of independent academic publishing in Pakistan and to provide a serious scholarly platform for researchers working in Islamic Studies, humanities, social sciences, and allied fields.
