Minhāj-al-Sunan is a commentary of Jāmi̒ Tirmidhī, authored by Mufti Farid on important Jurisprudential issues and hadith debates. This commentary is in three volumes. All three volumes have had the status of Sharh Hadith and Fatwa at the same time. In this book Mufti Farid has applied an exceptional research method. He has described the views of all the Imams in Jurisprudential issues and their differences in clear words so that every reader should find ease in understanding it. He has reflected on questions on types of Ahādith, the nature of Ahādith and the level of the narrators of Ahādith. He well responded to all these matters, with extensive explanation about the types of hadith with examples. He also explained, with examples, all the chapters of Tawhīd-ul-Abwab, their significance and lexical matters related to translation of the chapters. Moreover, Mufti Farid in his book enlisted the narrators of the hadith with correct pronunciation of their names, while shedding light on the conditions of the narrators. By enlisting the names of the narrators of Ahādith, Mufti Farid brought into limelight names of certain personalities who narrated hadith but were least known or unknown. The book further discusses the authenticity of only a few specific Ahādīth, though it does not discuss the matter of authenticity of all the a Ahādīth at length. In his book, there are no rulings been passed on authenticity of Ahādiīh, except at very few instances. In the beginning the book, however, principles and discussions around the issues of criticism and praise have been stated briefly.
