Observation of Islamic Code of Conduct in Contemporary Pakistani Politics: Problems and Remedies

Abstract

It is an undeniable fact that in contemporary Pakistani politics, politicians often violate Islamic ethics and code of conduct. We find them disgracing, maligning, blackmailing to their political opponents. Leaders, representatives and supporters of different political parties are badly involved in blame game, back-biting, lying, double dealing and using unethical or non-professional language against each other on private and public forums، including social, electronic and print media. The high ethical standards in politics can be maintained only by following the teachings of Quran and Sunnah. This paper attempts to present an in-depth analysis of contemporary political behaviors of the politicians from Islamic perspective. It points out the basic problems in the field and brings inclusive suggestions and remedies from the teachings of Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet (ﷺ).
