Abstract

In the contemporary era, ethical values have become increasingly significant in professional and organizational life. The success, development, and sustainability of any organization depend not only on professional competence and economic resources but also on ethical conduct, mutual trust, honesty, integrity, justice, benevolence, responsibility, and accountability among employees and management. Workplace ethics refers to the moral principles and values that guide individuals' behavior, professional responsibilities, interpersonal relationships, and organizational affairs within the workplace. In the modern workplace, issues such as corruption, injustice, favoritism, lack of transparency, breach of promises, and violation of employees' rights have created a growing need for a comprehensive ethical framework capable of guiding both individuals and organizations. The present study, entitled "Workplace Ethics: An Applied Study in the Light of Seerah Tayyibah (The Prophetic Biography)", examines professional and organizational ethics in the light of the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). The primary objective of this research is to explore how the ethical principles demonstrated in the Seerah of the Prophet (ﷺ) can be practically applied to contemporary workplaces and organizational environments. The study focuses on fundamental ethical principles derived from the Qur'an, Sunnah, and Seerah, including justice and fairness, trustworthiness and integrity, truthfulness, benevolence, responsibility, transparency, fulfillment of promises, consultation, respect for human dignity, employees' rights, and leadership and managerial responsibilities. The research analyzes relevant books, scholarly literature, research articles, and other academic sources while examining the practical dimensions of workplace ethics. The findings indicate that the ethical principles embodied in the Seerah of the Prophet (ﷺ) provide a comprehensive and balanced framework capable of strengthening individual character as well as improving organizational management, leadership, employee rights, and workplace relationships. The practical implementation of Prophetic ethical teachings in modern organizations can promote trust, transparency, justice, accountability, and professional integrity while reducing corruption, exploitation, injustice, and unethical practices. In light of the findings, the study recommends incorporating the ethical principles of the Seerah Tayyibah into organizational training programs, professional development, and character-building initiatives. Such an approach can contribute to the development of a positive, just, trustworthy, and ethically responsible workplace culture. It can not only enhance organizational performance and professional conduct but also contribute to the promotion of moral and human values in society. This research titled "Workplace Ethics in the Light of Seerat -un-Nabi ﷺ: An Applied Study" aims to evaluate the current workplace ethics in HBL Bank, Times University, and FG Degree College Multan and to compare them with the principles of Seerat-un-Nabi ﷺ. For this purpose, data was collected from 130 employees through a 30 item questionnaire using a 5point Likert scale. The findings revealed that the overall score of workplace ethics in all three institutions was 2.75 out of 5, which is unsatisfactory. The major issues identified were lack of honesty, injustice, ethical decline, and absence of servant leadership. The study concludes that the principles of honesty, justice, compassion, consultation, and service found in the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ provide the most effective solution to modern workplace problems. Based on these findings, practical recommendations have been proposed for all three institutions. Implementing these ethical principles can significantly improve organizational performance and employee satisfaction.
