Qurānic words “Khātam al-Nabiyyīn” in al-Aḥzāb 40 have unanimously been interpreted as “the Last Messenger” by all Muslim exegetes. Mirzā Qādiānī making space for his claim of prophethood interpreted the relevant words in a different way. He has been responded by many Muslim scholars including Syed Anwar Shāh Kashmīrī. This paper studies Kashmīrī’s response in his writing “Khātam al-Nabiyyīn”. It finds that Kashmīrī successfully refuted Qādiānī’s view on the subject. Providing arguments from Quran, Ḥadīth, logic etc. it verifies that the words “Khātam al-Nabiyyīn” have just been used to elucidate the finality of the prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).
