Freedom of Expression and its Challenges: An analytical study in the context of Islamic and Contemporary Perspective

Abstract

In both national and international contexts, Freedom of expression has already become the issue of most diverse opinion and controversy. This research analyzes freedom of expression within the framework of Islamic perspective and contemporary Western thought, and seeks the responsibilities, limitations and the difficulties associated with this right. It has been illustrated that freedom of speech is available in both traditions, however, neither is permitted to become an instrument of extreme, blasphemous, and urging to hatred. Islamic research within the legal context of The United Nations and the United States, and the European and Pakistani policies, to compare and contrast with diverse Islamic teachings, has also explored the degree of alignment. The paper examines the particular rising problems of the digital era, such as the intentional misuse of social media, the origination of deceptive news, deep fakes, hate speech, Islam o phobia, and the attack on the symbols of the sacred of various faiths, and the Islam o phobia that leads to the fundamental social and international dispute. It is argued that the freedom of opinion has internationally been largely suppressed, and camouflaged from the preservation of social order and the principles of universal brotherhood and humanity.
