An Analytical Study of Critique and Analysis of Modern Trends Regarding Selected Cultural and Social Issues

Abstract

This article is an analytical study of the critique and analysis of modernist scholars’ views regarding selected cultural and social issues. It focuses the critique of modern trends concerning the mixing of men and women, permission for a woman to perform Nikāḥ, and the legal status of veil. The study, analyzing the views of the modernist scholars and their critics, supports the views of traditional scholars who have rejected these trends by criticizing the thinking of modernist scholars in all the referred matters. It concludes that the views and arguments of the critics are more accurate and in accordance with Sharīʻah principles.
