Abstract

Muslim Scholars of Ḥadīth have produced number of works regarding commentaries of Ḥadīth collections. Imām Sayūtī is a prominent name in this list. Along with his other valuable works in Islamic sciences, he wrote a commentary of Ibn Mājah’s “Al-Sunan” with the name “Miṣbāh al-Zujājah”. This paper studies Sayūtī’s methodology in his refrred work. It finds that learned commentator has elaborated prophetic traditions by Quran, Ḥadīth, Arabic grammer and poetic verses etc. His commentary is nice contribution to understand the Ahādīth of Al-Sunan” by Ibn Mājah.
